✈️ my top five

Hey Reader,

We have hit our three month mark of our South East Asia trip. This week so far in the Philippines I have

  • admired 3 gorgeous beach sunsets punctuated by loud competing 80's rock,
  • jammed three not so tiny people into a tiny side car electric bike "taxi," and
  • watched Derek & Miss S our now 12 year old, have Garra rufa (doctor fish) nibble their feet in a fish spa, at an Aquarium in Cebu of all places.

Speaking of interesting things, I’ve gathered up my top 5 favorite things I’ve found on the internet this week for you. So you don't have to wander the interwebs looking for good stuff about FAMILY TRAVEL & RECIPE INSPIRATION while hangry. I’ve done it for you!

#1 - Check out & follow the US National Parks FB page for helpful tips & info with a side of humour. Here's some super cute otters to get you started. Perfect for when you need a smile, and want to show the National Parks Service some love with everything that's going on. Now in otter news.....

#2 - Some quick inspiration foreasy road trip snacks. If you're tired of gas station pit stops, and just want some travel snacks you'll actually like, that the kids will eat without too many complaints (one can hope), click on over.

#3 - Get inspired for your next trip with theseExciting hotel openings for 2025. I know, I know…. There are so many destination options out there and so little time. This one's for the travel planners who like to research and plan well in advance.

#4 - A thoughtful, short read onHow to be a better tourist. If you've heard about some of the anti-tourism movements in Europe and other places, and are curious about it, you should definitely click over.

#5 - This last one’s to help you save time & money on flights. Check this out if you're a busy parent / adult, who doesn’t have endless hours to search the internet for deals, and are planning on flying out of the USA either on a domestic or international flight for your next vacation.

Happy clicking!

Donna

A family of three, a Chinese dad, caucasian mom and young tween daughter at a beach, with sunset behind them.

Hey Reader, Hello from the rainy west coast of Canada! It has been a minute since I last sent out a newsletter. As a quick personal update, we recently landed back in our hometown after travelling South East Asia for six months. Us adults would have gladly continued on longer, but Miss S, our 12 year old had other ideas. So we are staying with family here for the school year while we figure out our next move and I handle some not so fun aging parent realities. For the new year, we are...

Hello Reader from super sunny Thailand, After our wild Bangkok earthquake experience, we didn't end up doing too much over the next few days. However, Miss S. and I did take a super fun Thai cooking class. I highly recommend this easy & fun class (they even train professional chefs upstairs). Everyone got to choose their own 5 dishes to make, plus they gave us mango sticky rice for dessert. She did amazingly well, as we each had our own cooking station where we did all the cooking ourseslves....
